Women taking over

At a recent Lok Jack GSB symposium Langston Roach, a feature speaker, said he does not hire men.  He said men were lazy and unreliable.  He found that women were more productive, passionate and loyal.  His company, Langston Roach Industries Ltd, has been taking on some pretty huge multi-nationals and not doing too badly for itself.  His “woman’s army” is working and he makes no apologies for his gender preferences when hiring because it’s his competitive advantage.

And Mr Roach has lots of company.  In a recent Forbes’ article it was reported that women are now dominating some of the jobs that used to belong to men, according to the Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau.

In our own Ad Agency industry in T&T, the leadership of which used to be “Men Only”, we are seeing women taking  leadership roles in agencies and in the agencies’ association.  And why should we be surprised?  Just go sit outside of Roytec or UWI or Lok Jack GSB and see whose going in and out of the building.  Or check out whose been giving the valedictorian speeches.

Langston Roach might be right.  So how do we fix the men?
