10 Common Ad Agency sins

The confessions of an adman
  1. Having an Accountant run the shop.  Or make marketing decisions.
  2. Not letting the media buyer in on the brand strategy.
  3. Developing a campaign without a clear single minded positioning. What are you advertising then?
  4. Promising stuff to the client and not telling anyone else in the Agency.
  5. Pretending to know what social media is when all you know is the Facebook time of your 17 year old daughter.
  6. Quoting on the fly.  And then trying to sneak omissions into your final billing.
  7. Saying yes to everything clients ask for.
  8. Saying no to everything employees ask for.
  9. Doing the campaign although the budget does not meet the minimum threshold required for effectiveness.
  10. Not buying your clients products. (do as I say, not as I do)

this is so true, Agency staff are so guilty of those sins! I want to add – 11. Making so many changes the end looks nothing like what you started off with and then you do not charge client for all those unecessary changes. 12. Not giving clients status updates or colleagues not giving you updates when deadlines are not met.
