6 lessons in my 6 years @ Pepper

linchpin

Today makes it 6 years since I joined Pepper! It has been a unique learning experience for me and just wanted to share 6 things I’ve learnt.

  1. It’s OK to disagree with the client. Even though you need to always be professional and polite, if you can justify why something cannot be changed and suggest an alternative, most times they agree.
  2. NO is never the answer. There is always a way and your client expects you to at least TRY. Nothing is impossible, it just takes more time, effort and resources so no excuses, find a solution or a valid reason why not.
  3. Tap your resources and be a sponge. In any field there is always something new to learn everyday and while the Internet is a wealth of resource, the people around you be it co-workers, clients, media or suppliers, you can learn so much.
  4. The real world is extremely dynamic. I’ve been fortunate to be part or Pepper-e and work on many integrated campaigns and even attend webinars. In our business you need to read and keep updated on trends and what’s happening in everything.
  5. Clients are just like us. In my experience, treating clients like colleagues while maintaining a professional relationship, goes a long way it making your daily job easier. Especially when you cannot meet a deadline! Once a client is comfortable with you and has that confidence, you find that productivity and efficiency improves.
  6. There is never a dull moment and no 2 days are ever the same. There has never been one day in Pepper where I have been bored or had nothing constructive to do. You can always find something to do – research, improve a process or even write a blog post. Find a way to add value. Be a linchpin.
