Reader Poll: Are these the most bizarre Facebook ads ever?

Caribbean Tutors Ads

Caribbean Tutors AdsCaribbean Tutors posted a series of Facebook ads that are either deliberately terrible, and therefore offbeat and eye-catching, OR are accidentally terrible and are just embarrassing.

Speaking for myself – a middle aged white male groaning about CXC caught my attention so  they’d have to be deliberately *fake* terrible. But in a small way they’re not great ads because they’re misleading.

You have a headline like ‘These Facebook Ads Suck!’ in supposedly the parlance of the target audience, teens – then its followed by a straight-up plug for the service – abandoning the quip and supposed ‘hipness’ in the headline. If you’re going to sell, sell. Don’t be cute one minute and salesman the next. I’d have rewritten ‘Dear Mom, I failed CXC…’ to ‘Dear Mom, I failed CXC – I really have GOT to sign up for CaribbeanTutors.com. I hear they have the best teachers in the region…’ At least, you’d still be in character.

I think the ads can work for a while because of its quirkiness. The challenge for these guys would be to find images that are relevant to the target that probably means they need a 16 year old ideator. They probably could piggy back on you tube and see what’s getting attention among that group as a source. I actually like these ads and only a small independent company like this tend to be brave enough to do crazy stuff like this, dr

I think if you’re going to do corny. Do it all the way. You can’t say ‘these facebook ads suck’ in one sentence and then totally completely change topic in the rest of the ad….

Well they have a tiny space to give some real details so they had to be schitzophrenic….overall it works for me..except the one with a “regular girl”…..too regular…it needed to be a diva to match the hey girl, dr
