Ian Alleyne and Christmas. Doh hot yuh head.

I can just see it.  The client says “We need something that will break through the clutter this Christmas. We don’t have as big a budget as Standards and Courts. And we need people talking about American Stores.”  They may have even said, “how about Ian Alleyne, why don’t we use him?”

There is no doubt that Ian Alleyne is super popular, especially among the “man in the street”. But is he right for a Christmas promotion? Does his shock style match the spirit of Christmas?

While some people may trust Ian Alleyne to hunt down the criminals, do they trust him to tell them which store to buy their new bed or fridge from?  Which of the following persons do you think people will trust more?  (when thinking of choosing a department store to buy that new stereo for their Old Year’s Night bram):

  • Ian Alleyne
  • Samantha John
  • Stern John
  • Anya Ayoung Chee
  • Kieron Pollard
  • Wendy Fitzwilliam
  • Philo
  • Scrunter
  • Rachel Price
  • Watson Duke

So, will Ian Alleyne translate into American Stores shipping more product this Christmas season?

I think the ladies will seem more credible. People would expect women, since thet’re the ones who make decisions in the home, to be most knowlegeable about these matters.
Rachel Price would give it to you straight, there’s no guile with her
Philo would know about appliances, but then again she’s a character
Smantha John is a familiar face, trusted to bring the news and we tend to put ‘celebrities’ on a pedestal, think they know alot more than we do.
Although, people might trust Ian. He fights for the underdog so maybe he would be able to suss out the rip-offs and find which stores are fair.
